Umlaut in urls

Just discovered that if a url contains an umlaut, like this ü, the link will not work

Eg https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hügelkultur

Just had a play out of curiosity. If you take off the umlaut and just type u in its place it works.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugelkultur

Read a couple of pages that said special characters shouldn't be in URLs.

Strange, I just tried it and using a ü in the address bar works on my iPad.

maybe the french equivalent of gremlins have got into my ipad

I think possibly the forum software might be at fault.
The link as displayed with the umlaut is only underlined and coloured brown up to the umlaut and so will not work. However if the whole url is copied and pasted into a browser, it works just fine.
