Shopmade Cam Clamps

Postby Dave R » 28 Sep 2014, 16:22

A quickie sketch. I was cleaning in my shop and came across a plan for these cam clamps. I decided to make a quick SketchUp model and then recycle the paper plan. I made extensive use of the Trim and Keep plugin which made drawing this very fast.

Very nice Dave, I know these as Luther's clamps.

Luthier's clamps perhaps?
Not sure why they should be specific to luthiers - before metal F clamps they surely would have had lots of applications in light woodwork.

 Those spill chuckers can sometimes do more harm than good. The one built in to my PC does not like "luthier" either but I don't let it auto correct.

I'm guessing that somewhere there was a luthier named Luther who had some clamps like these. :D
