You have an audience for your work and that's the best thing.

A few recent scribbles.

Mid-Century Modern bedside tables with hairpin legs. This is based on one from 1953 although I changed the legs.

And a whimsical console designed for a narrow entryway. This is a current production piece by a small studio in New York.

I like that last one. I guess it's held up by a French cleat or similar?

Like the pencil style too.

Cheers
Mark

Thanks Mark. I suppose you could use a French cleat but I expect the original just gets screwed to the wall through the back of the box with multiple drawers.

Dave do you have an image gallery site?

I just scanned back through this thread and it crossed my mind these images would be interesting to just scroll through/slideshow without discussion. I'm guessing you must have a lot more too. just a thought...

Hi Robert,

I do have a Flickr album where I keep these images. You can get to it here. Thanks for the interest.

And here's the latest one I doodled out today for a blog post at Design. Click. Build.

Hi Dave

Do you mind if I create a sticky post with your gallery in on the forum? I like the idea of letting everyone know where they might find something for inspiration.

Thanks
Mark

A couple more pieces.

This is my revision to a lectern design a local woodworker is building for his church. That is, he's building the lectern. I don't know if he'll use my suggested changes. He had low stretchers between the legs front and back at the same height as those on the sides. The one on the speaker's side (is that the back?) would have been ankle bangers. He had a rod between the other one and the bottom of the cross, too. The one on the speaker's side could have been removed so there was just three but I thought I'd try a central stretcher instead. The wood colors should probably be reversed.

This is based on photos I found of an Italian piece from the early 1900s. The original is veneered in some sort of walnut with a lot of sapwood visible. I don't have much on the details of the drawer. I kind of suspect it is just loose in its space but there may be a central runner under it to guide it. There are guides on the sides which don't show to keep it straight when pushed in.

Thanks as always for looking.

Very nice.

Makes my 'shop .skp file look like it's been drawn by a 5 year old!

Thank you, Malcolm. If your drawing got the job done, it's prefect.

Kind of you to say.

What it has taught me as I build the model is that I come across the problems in the model rather than on the site.

It's not built yet. Groundworks starts in a couple of weeks and then I start the build.

SU has been a godsend, while being extremely frustrating because I don't know all its nuances.

SketchUp is definitely good for that

Good luck. I hope you'll be documenting it with a build thread here.

How about a ladder for your library? This is based on one from Boston, Massachusetts and dated to 1850.

Looks great Dave. Can you now draw me my library so I can build that too? ;)

Cheers

I can make that library as big as you want.

Maybe you need a bench for your entry way. This is based on one from the early 1800s.
