Moved a few more bits in with some help yesterday.

Just going out now to move a load of timber over into the Mez to make space in the container to the. Look at moving over the big toys (P/T, bandsaw, tablesaw).

Slowly, slowly...

Getting there, you!

I am so pleased I'm not the only one with sockets every couple of feet. It is so useful to just plug in where you want!

Re: Trimble Towers Workshop - Moving in day!

Postby TrimTheKing » 23 Mar 2019, 18:30

Finally, a day when my mate was free and I had mojo! Didn’t take any photos as we moved but finally got the big machines from the container on the right...

Image

Image

...to the workshop over there on the left. All machines (DX, TS, BS & PT) all on rolling bases so used a half sheet of MDF as a ramp down from the container, 2 sheets of 1” thick T&G ply across the gravel, 2 sheets of 18mm play on the patio then used two long thin sheets of 6mm ish MDF to get over the grass, picking up the rear one and moving ahead as we went.

Then similar ply arrangement over shop threshold to see-saw them through the door.

Only took the two of us about 30-40 mins to move all 4.

Image

Image

Time to check the casualties of the kit being in a container on the driveway for over 3 years...

I waxed all tables before putting them in the container but clearly missed some other areas...

Small amount on fine surface orange on the TS, will sand off no issue.

Image

Nothing on the BS but the PT is another matter...

Image

Image

I waxed the tables and they are fine but I think a cardboard box was resting on that top edge and looks like a little damp has held in it over the years a eaten my PT edge, the corners of the tables and the block! I’m sure it’ll all clean up okay but more work than I had hoped would be required.

Now comes the bigger task of organising the shop so I can actually do something in there...

Yep, not far off now Malc...

Haha, yeah it's a bit of a squeeze at the moment for sure.... Timber needs to go up into the Mez, there's a load of crap on the floor and old insulation offcuts (some of which will be used on the Mez to cover the RSJ but most will be offered for free on Facebook or disposed of) that needs sorting, disposing of or finding space for in whatever storage solution I go with.

Hoping to get a bit of time today so will try and shift some of the timber and clear some space.

Good question.

Simple one, we have a galleried hall in the house with a high level window. I was given instruction t’other day that it requires an oak cill to go in it to match the one in my study a couple of rooms down, so it will be that.

Image

Then a slightly more complex one of under stair cupboards, with a couple of small projects with the kids from a wooden toys book we bought a few years ago. Barney and I have a digger part built so that needs finishing...

Trimble Towers Workshop - Organisation.

Postby TrimTheKing » 31 Mar 2019, 14:36

Little bit of time in the shop today while wife took daughter to church for Mother’s Day service which she was part of.

Wasn’t going to move the shelves from the container because ultimately I don’t want them in the shop, but, seems like the right thing to do in the short term to enable me to tidy everything sensibly so I can get machines positioned and usable to make the permanent storage units.

So 45 mins later the shelves are cleared, shifted, all shelves washed down and dried then fitted and filled.

I think I might now do the same with the second set to completely clear stuff. Life is much easier when you can do something without having to move 5 packing cases first...

Another hour in the shop on Sunday, in between a lot of garden based jobs that needed doing.

Managed to get the second shelving unit out of the container and into the shop, then loaded up. Those packing cases will be unpacked, inventories and anything not required sold, given away or dumped.

I also finally finished backfilling one of the flower beds outside the shop and transferred some English Bluebells into there as well and untangling and looping the honeysuckle behind the wires on the walls.

Next indoor job is to get that timber up into the Mez then we’re not far away at all from being able to start planning and building the storage and work surfaces.

Saved them from when the kids were little. One is full of Allen keys, another has random spare parts from baby gates that we still haven’t got rid of, Christ only knows what’s in the rest of them but it must be important otherwise why would I have kept it...

Those tins are great for storage. I have lots from when my son was a baby. He is nearly 32 now!
