Getting brighter in there all the time as you cover up non white materials.

Not up with electrical regs but I have never seen single cables used that way before. No conduit or trunking and the wires just run in a void. There may well be nothing wrong about it but it just looks wrong having single insulation not double and no support!

My experience was with wires in the lighting equipment itself and there single insulation wiring was allowed as long as not normally accessible, properly retained and the housing was earthed. What the contractor did wiring supply was not our problem. So correct practice I can't say but I've never seen anything like the way yours is wired and I've been to quite few commercial installations :)

Ah, but there is support as I can see metal clips in one of the photos. Also doesn't the void give protection..no chance of people walking on the cables !

Little more progress. Mate has been over and wired in my cut off switch and DOL.

I wanted to be able to isolate the electrics to the large machines from a safety perspective so if the kids ever came in alone (which right now they wouldn’t as they are generally sensible and do as they’re told) then they couldn’t easily turn anything on and hurt themselves.

As I leave I hit this button and it pops the switch in this box cutting off all power to the sockets. Lights stay on.

Image

To get Power back you need to twist the mushroom switch to re-activate it, then push the start button on the enclosure (which contains, I think, a regulator, but I could have that wrong).

You can also completely lock off the Power with the switch below the green button so that even with the mushroom switched to on the power will still not flow.

This weekend he’s going to isolate these two doubles from the DOL so they will stay live and can be used for chargers etc.

Off to try and get the rest of the ceiling up now...

Certainly is mate. Just trying to keep doing a little bit each day whenever I can.

Bit more this evening, to address Robert’s question, I’m not sure about the wiring but have taken loads of photos and will run it by the spark who will eventually sign this off. As Roger noticed, there are lengths of steel welded from the top to the bottom of the I beam every 3’ or so and all wires are now tucked behind those so they can’t fall down in the event of fire.

Finished the ceiling tonight. Obviously a bit of run out in the slope as the gap along one edge gets bigger along the length but isn’t quite as big as the photo suggests. I might look to fill that at some point but not that fussed.

Image

All cavities packed with rock wool before over boarding.

Also managed to get up two of the battens which will support the LED panels and the air filter. The battens should be deep enough to screw the LED panel transformers to the ceiling with 10mm min clearance.

Curious to see inside the 'regulator' box please Mark.
For what I think it needs to have in it, it looks large?

Not sure I'll get any more progress today. Working at home and got loads to get done, then me and the Mrs are off to see Stephen Fry and Bridgewater Hall in Manchester tonight. Might have to be tomorrow unless I can sneak out for a lunch break.

Another couple of hours today after kids football. Barney won 4-3 and made a few great saves, Tilly won 3-2 which is their first ever win in one and a half full seasons of trying, so very happy in our house today.

Anyway, workshop. Got a couple of hours with my tame spark who got the security lights up while I finished battening the ceiling then we got the lights in.

Tomorrow’s jobs are to get a hole drilled through the house wall for the alarm cable so we can get that in, then a touch up coat of white across the ceiling to get rid of the scuffs then I think we’re about ready to move in!!

It looks half full already mate, ;) those lights look excellent 8-)
I have sloping ceilings & ended up putting a light fitting on the wall above the bench as I found I was working in my own shadow.
Looks like you could well be in for Xmas :eusa-think:

Cheers Doug

They are very bright indeed, for the price I’m delighted. I am concerned with shadowing and will have them above the benches in the main bench area (does the sound work on the video for you by the way? It is in there on the original but not working on the version I’ve posted in here...) but the spread of light seems very good with all the white surfaces so I’m hoping I get away with it in the machines area. We’ll see...

I am certainly hoping to have the alarm sorted ASAP and have most of not all kit in there by Christmas. Definitely won’t be in full working order as too much else to do but at least it will be in there and I can use the container for another purpose for which it’s required, before finally getting rid of it.
Cheers

Sound works for me Mark but needed the volume all the way up which is unusual for YouTube vids

Hmmmm thank Bob. I’ll have a look. It’s not working at all on Tapatalk on my photo but on youtube app on my phone the volume is right up there.

Will have a look on my Mac now.

Very odd. The audio wasn’t that loud on the original because I was holding the phone away from me and wasn’t taking particularly loud, but on my Mac it’s perfectly audible.

Completely silent on my phone through Tapatalk but same volume on YouTube app on my phone as is on the Mac.

God knows!

Just replayed it & I can make out what you’re saying Mark with the volume on full, though when I first watched it I didn’t realise your commentary was there as the volume was on low,. :eusa-doh:

Suddenly realised today I still have 13 days leave to take before the end of the year so I’ve taken today off to crack on!

Alarm now wired into the main house alarm and working!

Two more panels under the Mez for the bench area. One more panel to go in which will replace the strip light you can just see the glow from towards the back of this photo. That will be all the lighting complete.

Image

Just about to trim the doors down a bit because they’ve expanded due to me not painting them immediately. Going to take both off one at a time, take enough off to stop them binding then get them painted. At least that way I am secure and can start moving in, and any change in size will in theory be shrinkage and not growth...

After that it’s a massive tidy up, finish the ceiling above the Mez, frame out the windows and door, lick of paint to cover any scuffs and I think we’re done!
