Problem is now, the more I think of how nice it is going to be the less I want to do any mess making activities in it!

Malc, you have let me down! When I saw the post notification was from you I had a side bet with myself that you would say "Tasty", then I bet on "Toasty" being related to the insulation.
How could I get it so wrong??

Still ongoing but painfully slow, as life, the extension, work and Christmas have all got in the way, but 80% of the insulation is in, and I had a few sheets of OSB for the floor (going over PIR) arrive today and some 12mm ply to line to walls.

I need to get at least half of it in a useable state as the in laws will be coming up after Christmas and the spare room is being used to store stuff that needs to be in the shed.

I second this suggestion!

Although mine insist on staying in the spare bedroom (and even leaving things behind for "next time they're here".... :eusa-naughty: )
It might not be broken, but it will be by the time I've finished with it! (hammer)

Sounds risky to me. Could be the thin end of a wedge if done a few times.

I'd be putting my foot down with a firm hand if I were you

I don’t dare reply to these, although to be fair I do get on with my in laws really well.

80% of the floor down now, which was a pain because all the junk in there couldn’t go outside, so moving that around while leaving enough room to trim 8 x 4 sheets was fun.

I’m at the point now where I need to make a decision on the wiring for the shed.

I’m planning on having a small consumer unit in there and have already run 1.5mm 2 core and earth across the ceiling under the apex for the lights. Probably overkill as I only have 4 small LeD strip lights.

I’m also wanting to put in a ring main in 2.5mm2. I will probably have 5 double sockets. As I’m reading into running wires in the gaps between the insulation and the plywood cladding, I think I am correct the current should be derated by 50% which from reading is what is suggested when the cable is enclosed in insulation. This would keep it pretty tidy, while the alternative would be mounted in conduit on the surface.

Tempted to do that as much easier and more flexible, but will probably make up my mind tomorrow when I try to finish lining it.

Morning Dave

I'd go for surface mounted trunking, like this ...

http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Electri ... +3m/p42731

Easy to install, easy to fit the cables, and easy to alter if you need to.

Cheers

Keep the faith Dave. It will be worth waiting for.
Moveability was the prime reason I went for surface trunking when I wired my workshop. I chose round plastic conduit which was not easy as that square stuff to feed the cables through.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

Going forward very slowly, but definitely going forwards. Have the bottom half of one side boarded and will be boarding the bottom half of other side this afternoon, but it will need cutting round the windows. Which will probably be a bit of a faff.

Already seems warmer working in it, and it s getting there, it just fitting time in between all the other stuff you have to do at this time of year.

I bought some of those rolson floor tiles from Halfords which will be nice once it’s finished.
