The reason you are possibly having problems with picture rotation is possibly to do with the way apple store photos. They save the picture info, together with orientation information in a special way*. When viewed on an apple device it will turn the picture so that the horizon is maintained even if you view with the screen rotated.
The forum software cannot read this rotation info and so cannot "find" the horizon.
The simple fix is to always take the photo with the phone/pad/pod such that the volume buttons are at the bottom.
Alternatively you might try opening the photo in a non apple photo editor ( I think an apple one will just make everything look the right way round when it won't be on the forum) and rotate it how you want it and re-save. I usually add an R to the file name so i know it has been rotated, and then upload that to the forum.
*Apple defend this storage method say it is faster that rotating the image when saving and enables their video and "rapid fire" photo modes to be faster. Could be true or could be what I call "apple arrogance"
