U tube - How to embed a youtube video

Postby Dalboy » 06 Apr 2015, 09:44

I just put an answer in a post that I tried to link to a u tube clip as it was easier than trying to do a write up. Any way I tried with no joy and thanks to the Mods they sorted it.
My Question is what did I do wrong or more like it how do I do it if I need to in the future.. Please keep it simple I am an idiot when it comes to computers I tend to fumble my way through but normally manage to get where I want.
Thanks in advance guys

Mod edit: changed the topic title

The easiest method seems to be as follows

1) Find the youtube clip and copy the sequence after the =

eg https://www.youtube.c0m/watch?v=zNXuYlwI8N0

2) Select the youtube button, located at the far right of the buttons under the Subject box of a new topic, and the following appears

3) Position your cursor between the closed bracket ] after the first youtube and the open bracket [ in front of /youtube

4) Paste the sequence you copied from youtube between the open and closed brackets et voila

[y0utube]zNXuYlwI8N0[/y0utube]

I do not think therefore I do not am.

Derek, A useful tip I use on forums is when I see a feature I want to copy/use etc, I use the quote button which shows you the underlying code and then you can imitate it for your application.

DONT hit post, but just use "back" on your browser.

Bob

BTW I see from the moderator Log it was Andy who edited your post - he is our you tube man!

LOL...mine and Andy's crossed in the ether and I hadn't even noticed the YT button. It might be less confusing if you delete mine mods....Andy's is far more appropriate I think.
