Hello from Dorset

Postby technium » 28 Jun 2016, 20:45

Hi All

Just found this forum and I am just getting into woodworking etc after 40+ years of doing nothing much.

Im in the process of getting rid of two sheds and replacing them with a 17x 10ish workshop. Got a few basic tools but am on the look out for a table saw, probably a Kity or something similar.

Will probably be asking lots of questions but wanted to say Hi before I Jumped into bothering you all.

thanks

Thanks All.

As I said im new to this but want to start getting into it hence the workshop being built. I already have a few tools but usually just the B&Q brand stuff so nothing too great but my first thing I want is the better quality cast iron table saw. After that I am also looking into getting a cheap lathe from the 2nd hand market as ive always liked woodturned things and would like to have a go. someone on another forum mentioned Woodturning a basic foundation course so thats on its way to me and I will keep an eye out for a lathe once the workshop is built.

Im hoping to have it done by end of the summer and am probably going to get it from one of those pre built, build on site guys although I have been thinking of doing the build myself.

thanks again

Thanks All.

Once I get going I will try and upload pics but at the moment its just digging. As mentioned, I dont think I will do the build, I think with my skill level, the money id save would not be worth it when they can do it in half the time and its probalby not going to be much cheaper to do it myself.

Once the outer shell is done I can get my dad to do the electrics and I need some kind of insulation inside it. Would I need insulation in the roof area and would I need any ventilation to help with damp or anything?

thanks

Colin,
Can I ask you to start a thread in the Projects & WIP thread, to cover your workshop build and any questions you might have, rather than here where posts may well get missed.

Considering your location will you be stone cladding it? :D
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers
