Sometimes it's good to be 'in the zone'...

This was meant to be the grooves for the top panel of a small cufflink box using the last bit of my 'waterfall' elm...same timber as I used on the back panel of the 'Cabinet of Curiosities'. Strangely but unsurprisingly I managed to make the same mistake on both the long sides :D The mitigating fact in my defence is that I'm currently suffering from a really bad back and am currently hobbling around the 'shop...the 96yo DoE is probably more mobile  - Rob

Fortunately, the second pair of long sides were done proper and the box went together quite well. The top panel and inside surfaces (except where the Bog Oak lining will be glued) were given a couple of coats of satin Osmo, so that after the glue up....

The little cufflink box has just been finished..

This has been made using the last fragment of my 12mm thick 'waterfall' elm. Construction is through dovetail, with a solid 8mm thick panel, bandsawn veneered base with a simple chamfer to open. The lining and partitions are in Bog Oak, 5300 years old and were 'tricky' to fit.

Even more tricky was fitting the 8mm wide hinges from Ian Hawthorne into 12mm wide sides...not a lot of 'wriggle room' so there were one or two mishaps where the wood broke :(

With the box shown open, the six compartments can be seen...

Finish is with a couple of coats of satin Osmo-PolyX with some Swedish organic beeswax over the top - Rob

How many cufflinks have you got? :)

A know a lot of folk have got loads of cufflinks, but currently I've got two in silver, one of which came from St.Paul's Cathedral and one gold plated pair from the BM - Rob

Very nice.
I’ve got loads of links and have lost lots of them too over the years. Now only worn on special occasions and generally stuffed in a suitcase and somehow lost.
I was surprised to see how many YouTube videos exist showing how to fit them!!
Now a bow tie I can understand.

As an aside here’s some more old oak put to another use:
