Your favourite listenings......

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

Some of you might remember a thread I started about my time at the Totnes School Of Guitarmaking, and the acoustic guitar I built there. Here's something I never get tired of listening to - it's my son playing the aforesaid guitar. Not too long after the guitar was finished he recorded Tommy Emmanuel's version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" for his then girlfriend, now wife Chloe. I'm pleased to say that ten years or so further down the road the guitar sounds better and better with every passing year, and John's guitar playing does too. I don't have this on youtube, it's a link to my website, but should play OK if you click on it:

I was taking my customary stroll on the beach today when this popped onto the iPod - it's a bonus track on the Vols 1 & 3 Traveling Wilburys box set (there never was a vol2 btw...). This was a staple of semi-pro bands the length and breadth of the country back in the good old days and I wish I had the proverbial nickel for every time I've played it. An astoundingly good and faithful note-for-note cover version by the Wilburys of the old Del Shannon classic, with great backing vocals:

Nice.

My band did it, too, with the lead guitar covering the organ solo.

It always went down well.

Anyone else watching Jeff Beck on BBC4. So much stuff I had never heard before.

How about this

And there are snippets of so much more stuff I want to hear the rest of.

If it’s on iPlayer well worth a watch.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

This young group is IMO stunningly good. Their first LP came out in 2016 to much acclaim and this track is at the end of their latest LP release.

'Let's Eat Grandma' - two lasses and they are only 19 !

Stunning talent.

I've been watching the Bourne series again. Watched Identity last weekend and Supremacy last night - love 'em - superb films. Hopefully, Ultimatum is on next weekend. 8-) I'm yet to see The Bourne Legacy, Jason Bourne and Future.

Always loved the sound track performed by Moby.
