One for Dalboy

Postby Rod » 17 May 2018, 20:51

I’ve been following Dalboy’s Monmouthshire Wagon build on another forum with great interest. So not wanting to steal his thunder here’s ones my late father made a few years ago.

I bought him a book on horse drawn vehicles and he started making a series of them.
He carved the horse too and made the trappings from an old leather handbag.
More patience than I ever had!

I think we've seen that before Rod....great to see it again. Well, your father had more time on his hands than most of us!

I can't help thinking that in reality the horse would have been a little further from the cart than in the model.

That’s probably my fault Mike, I’ll pull the horse forward when it’s cleaned and dusted again.

Here’s another one - excuse the blue tack keeping it in the plinth, it’s not seen as it’s high up on a shelf.

My Great Grandfather was a wheelwright in the mid 1800’s - this tipper cart was made by him:

My father repainted it which spoiled the original look.

My father died aged 87 - he would have been 102 next month and was always playing around with bits of wood.
