We had a few days away for the missus' birthday and stayed at The Old Deanery in Ripon. I was intrigued by this sash window construction. At first sight it looks nothing out of the ordinary.
But when opened,
you suddenly realise that it slides behind an extra rail which struck me as (a) peculiar and (b) over-engineered and so (c) why did they do it ?
I did find out why but thought I'd pose the question for you guys to mull.
