Volumetric confusion

Volumetric confusion

I'm looking at this cistern from Travis Perkins

https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/Ferham- ... R/p/953249

Now 18 litres is 18000 cc - right ?

Yet their Tech Spec says it's 442mm x 305mm x 396mm and using these I can't get anywhere close to 18 litres.

I am not surprised that you are confused Roger. The Overview states a capacity of 50 gallons !
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

If its TravisPerkins they will charge you the price of a 50 gallon tank for an 18l one - definitely my last port of call for anything building related!

Totally agree! They own Wickes and Toolstation who are more competitive esp toolstation.

I was in there a few months back wanting a 1 tonne bag of ballast. They looked up my address on streetview and asked me to point out the house (we have names not numbers) which I thought was to help the driver locate us.
As soon as they spotted overhead powerlines, they refused to deliver point blank. They claimed their drivers were not insured to deliver with a hiab crane anywhere with over head lines even telephone ones.

I went to the other local BM - an independent known to be dearer but the bag was a couple of quid more but no delivery issues. I watched the guy operate the hiab. He put the boom out horizontally and parallel to the road with the bag behind the tail of the wagon and easily swung it round onto our driveway well under the height of the power lines anyway.

Depends how much business you put their way and how hard you bargain !

I found my local TP unwilling to bargain very much. Jewson however worked well when I built my workshop.
I gave them the approx bill of materials for the whole job and got a total price bargained down quite well and then called it off a bit at a time using their (then) free delivery over £50 offer to get materials on a just in time, PAYG basis as I had no significant storage space until the roof was on.
