I suppose it depends on the area you are spreading. For a large area, I think these work well, but for small or narrow areas, a flat blade can be good.

I suppose it also depends on the surface; if it's rough, like OSB, then a brush is better than a blade which would be better on a flat little absorbent surface.

Those bristles can’t be any softer than a brush can they ?

I like the look of that Malc thanks for the link I’ll get the GLW to pick one up when she’s out shopping next it will be ideal for Cascamite which is a bugger to clean out of brushes but breaks off flexible items easily when set .

Edit,

Just spoke to SWMBO who informs me she all ready has one & why do I want to spend that much & to look at Ikea, so I did

That Ikea one seems cheap but to me it seems large for most stuff I do

It claims to be 250 x 40 x 10mm.

I agree Bob, but the one my good lady has has its bristles extruded from a silicon block with a handle that pushes into that block, it wouldn’t be difficult to cut the block in half & have 2, 20mm brushes which would be a better size & a bigger bargain

OK Doug thanks. All I have to do now is to psych myself up to actually setting foot in one of their stores

I can’t help you there Bob  other than offer to get the good lady to buy an extra one when she’s next there & post it you. For some reason she likes the place :eusa-think: it can’t be the meatballs

I bought these last year as well and I have to agree. The silicon 'tray' that comes with the set is also really useful for tipping out a good dollop of gloop if you've got a fair amount of gluing to do and it's easy enough to tip the excess back into the bottle. Definitely my 'go to' glue applicators now - Rob

We used to have spreaders like the spade end at school back in the 70’s / 80’s

We used to have the little spade one in the 50s in a little round metal tub with white hard glue in called GripFix, I think. Smelled like marzipan, or am I imagining that?
