Burr in blue

Postby Dalboy » 20 May 2020, 17:23

Chestnut burr I have been working on. Stained with spirit stains and a gloss finish the edge is gilded with a chemically treated brass leaf giving the edge a brass copper look some little parts show the natural edge through the guiding adding to the piece

C and C welcome

That's a very striking piece, like it a lot.

Chestnut stained with Chestnut stains?

Dave

I am in awe of what I see as the skill involved in spinning a ragged edge lump of wood full of holes at god knows what mph without it a) falling apart and b) tearing your fingers to shreds. The paint effects are stunning too.

Do you have an images of the piece before you added the finishes?
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

I like that a LOT!

Love the blue and the gilding makes it look like it's molten metal or lava! Really striking effects.
