What’s the best number of teeth for cutting very fresh Bread! :lol:

Someone else mentioned cutting bread on a bandsaw in jest but this is fresh out of the Panasonic and very difficult to cut so I trued it up on the bandsaw ... Blade was 3 TPI, is this about right? :lol:

We use a Panasonic and the only time I had a failure was when I forgot to insert the paddle :lol: Trying white and stoneground wholemeal with a dash of granary and rye flour; not too bad - Rob

We’ve had our Panasonic about 20 years now.
That last loaf was made with Baguette Flour. I premixed 200g of flour with 200ml of water and 1/2 tsp yeast and left it overnight in a bowl for the flavour to develop. I then added it to the remaining 300g of flour, 150ml water and the rest of the yeast, sugar salt and butter and pressed go. It’s turned out nicely with a good open texture and good flavour.

We've had a Panasonic for 10 years and have recently stopped using it due to either a fault or maybe a bad batch of yeast - don't know. The yeast is in date. The last few breads have hardly risen and resulted in a very dense small loaf. :|

So, the lockdown has resorted in you cutting your freshly made bread on the bandsaw. :lol:

I doubt it's the machine Paul. That happened to me a while back and I asked Google why the bread didn't rise; forget the answer I got but there are multiple reasons; have you looked in the Book of Words at the back? - Rob

Forget the date on the yeast. Mix a little with some warm water and a little flour and see if bubbles develop, if so it’s probably ok. If not bin it and buy some more.

Looks a gud'n Mark. We usually mix half n'half wholemeal and white as 100% wholemeal tends to make a very solid, chewy loaf; good for the bowels though :D - Rob

Nothing wrong with our Panasonic breadmaker but I just don't use it any more.

I made a loaf yesterday and it worked out that it came out of the oven lunchtime and I wanted to slice it as soon as it was cool enough. That of course took too long and when you try and cut warm crusty bread it is really difficult to get through the crust and not crush it. The bandsaw did cross my mind but I though no, that is silly... maybe I should have tried it :)

Pinch - re the Panasonic fault (?) , in the booklet they mention keeping the steam vents clean , there are two on the rear and the front . Also , they mention wiping the temperasture sensor as , if its a bit mucky , this could effect the cooking temp . Then of course there is a section on the usual cooking problems .

This is a medium size loaf from the Panasonic.

I did a pre-ferment by mixing 200g of flour with 200ml of water with some sugar and yeast and mixing it in the KitchenAid. This sits overnight in a bowl and is then added to the rest of the ingredients in the Panasonic the following morning. The idea being to let the flavour develop a bit more. It’s the second time I’ve done it and it seems to work well, the bread tastes very nice and I've had a good rise both times.

Well all these pictures of fresh home baked bread, I dusted of the Aldi bread maker and loaded it up this morning. Three and a half hours later I have this.

And of course I have to try that crust, with home made rhubarb and ginger jam.

Looks gorgeous.

I’ve also made rhubarb and ginger jam but the colour is nowhere near as dark as yours. Did you add anything else?

I made a double size batch of the jam, big mistake. I had to boil it for a long time to get the temperature up to the set point and it turned the jam much darker than I have ever seen it. However it still tastes good so it was not a loss.
