Kapex KS60 - don't ignore that 'hot' smell.

Here's the place to talk about all your table saws, bandsaws, routers and dust extractors. In fact anything that makes noise and uses electrickery.

Kapex KS60 - don't ignore that 'hot' smell.

I'm annoyed with myself. When I first got my Kapex KS60 I thought that the hot electric smell when I turned the light on was 'normal' for the saw. It wasn't. It has now given up the ghost and this is why.

Had I thought things through properly at the time then I'd have made a warranty claim.

Do I use it much ? Not really. Will I be replacing it for £50 ? Probably not!

Is it older than 3 years Rog? If not it’s still under warranty.

£50 doesn’t sound too bad for a £600 saw even if you mend it & sell it you’ll easily get your money back.

Oooh...thanks for that, Doug. :eusa-clap:

Didn't realise. Bought in 2018. As it happens I've emailed Festool about it but will need to chase down how to make a warranty claim.

I seem to remember when we all bought at about the same time, they were about £150 off. I'd spend £50 to get it mended.

Or I'll buy it off you for £50! :D

Thanks for the heads up. No smell coming out of mine and I do happen to use the light every time I use it.

If you download & sign up to the Festool work app with the same email address you used to register the tool (sometimes this is done automatically by the seller using your email address) then your purchase will show up in the app & you can sort your warranty claim through that.

Unfortunately it was not registered for warranty either by the dealer or me. I really can't see why Festool put this stupid 30 day from purchase restriction on registering the warranty when you have to provide proof of purchase date when you claim under the warranty.

I'll not bother to replace it.
