A Few Recent SketchUp Scribbles

Postby Dave R » 05 Feb 2015, 02:47

Since it's been over three months since anyone posted anything in the forum, I figured I'd show a few things I've done recently.

I've been staring at that 'flame' for a few minutes now and I still haven't come up with a way to even start drawing it!

Is there one of your tutorials out there for it somewhere? Please don't do one if there isn't as its only curiosity on my part.... but a clue would be good :)

Hi Robert,

There isn't a tutorial yet but there will be one. It's on my list. I'll tell you that the flame is made separately from the turned section.

Dave, please don't get disheartened at the lack of response to posts. This has happened a few times recently and it does not necessarily mean no one is reading them but more like they don't feel they have anything to add.

We still only have relatively few members but it is slowly growing.

We do appreciate your contributions.

Cheers

Bob

Thanks, Bob. I know it's been slow. I figured I'd take advantage of that. I'm guessing standards are low so I could get away with posting these things. :D

Anything you post will , in my case at least, drive conversation and desire to do new things, so while Bob is right, that things are slow, it's not for lack of appreciation of what you offer.

Maybe you banging a few more idea up will drive some more traffic from people? ;)

Thanks again.

My point of showing these is to illustrate that anyone can do this sort of thing. None of what I showed here is very difficult. Whether of not there is value to doing it is the question.

Andy, if it helps, the brick wall is a texture I made from a photo I took of the side of a building.

This was my morning practice after a long, hard day at work yesterday. A luggage stand based on a piece out of a French hotel from the 1950s. It look like a nice project that could be easily modified to make a bench or perhaps a plant stand. It would be a great project for Dominos although mortises and tenons would be easy enough, too.

Chippy, they really don't take that long to do. I would equate it to working in the shop, though. Practice helps because with it you know what to do and what's coming next. I think staying a few steps ahead in your mind helps to keep you out of trouble.

Wonderfull work ! :text-bravo:

One day I hope to start to learn it. For now, I'm happy to view such amazing illustrations. Thanks for posting - and yes, I do look at most things on the forum but normally only comment when I have something to add.
Cheers !

I get the same with firefox. I don't have any machine with any other OS.

Maybe someone else will give it a try for you?

Are you on a fruit powered machine? and have you tried it on a PC - just a thought.
