What does? SketchUp? Not really. Part of the problem is the user interface on the iPad is too clumsy for this kind of thing. There have been requests to have SketchUp work on iPads but it isn't really there.

Came across some photos of a bench made by NK in Sweden in the 40's. It's a knock-down design. Shades of Ikea? It looks like a nice project that most of us could pull off in our shops.

One last one for 2019.

This case piece is based on one designed for the concessions building in Mother Neff State Park in Texas in 1938. The original was built in pine. I expect probably southern yellow pine.

More images for the bored.

This is a bed for which I did construction plans awhile back. It is based on beds designed by Greene & Greene for the Gamble House in Pasadena, California.

Image

Recently a fellow contacted me and indicated he wants to build a king sized version of the bed. That adds 16 inches to the width. His original intent was just to make the central panels wider, thusly:

I'm not very fond of that idea. There's not enough added width to add another spindle at each lift so after playing around with the design and look at other pieces designed by the Greene Bros. I thought maybe this would work.

Sorry Dave but I think you have posted the same picture twice for the wider bed?

Well I think breaking the big panel up looks much better.

A coffer. Based on Nancy Hiller's rendition of one by Ernest Gimson who moved from London to the rural Cotswolds region with Sidney and Ernest Barnsley in 1893.

I need to make some new oak materials for this one.

I’d never heard of him but Gimson was a very prolific maker (from Google).

I remember seeing an old chest like that on Jersey, the carved panel had significant details which the women playing the role of the good wife explained in detail to us.

Thanks for sharing that guys. I'd heard of the Barnsleys but not Gimson. I guess I should do more research.
