• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

That time of the year already

Strong winds here today in Pennsylvania and it’s confetti time with all the leaves coming down. Shame as the trees were just turning to their Autumn colours, quite beautiful to see.

Parkinson Perfect no. 14 vice restoration.

Perfect! Re hold storage on aircraft, I wanted to take 6 x 36” Record sash cramps packed in a box as part of my hold allowance to the us, well I thought I had better check and rang the airline and got through to a complete divvy who had never heard of sash cramps, so I tried to describe them and...

    On this day.......

Looks good and cosy. Glad to see you protected the overhead beam, the recommendation in the uk is for 45 degrees bends, not sure how much of a difference it makes, and 90 degree holes are certainly easier to put through a wall. Only did it once, not horrendous but still made me anxious re...

    Flexible hose dust extraction question.

Thanks for that Mike, that’s a comprehensive and reassuring answer. My old extraction system was bought second hand it’s a 3 pot 3 phase beast but only 400 mm at the thick end, we suspended it from the ceiling using webbing straps and it always worked well, the main ducting was all steel pipes...

    Flexible hose dust extraction question.

So I picked up a D/X mobile unit and it works just great for what I will use it for - single mc at a time, it came with a flexible hose that has a copper multi strand wire running through it fastened to the tin duct connectors. Fairly obviously the wire has to be long enough for when the hose is...

Teething troubles, can anyone explain this?

Just in case anyone in the future has this and wants to remove the orrible things, they come off with no trouble in seconds with a screwdriver under them.

    Anti-rust paper

Yes that’s possible, I just spray WD40 on and wipe the excess off. Simple easy and it makes the wood pass over the machine nicely- particularly the planer.

Teething troubles, can anyone explain this?

Finally I am using my new SCM Minimax 26 combination machine for the first time in full at it mode, the extractor is pulling well, I certainly wouldn’t like to put my hand over the open 4” nozzle for too long so I’m guessing it’s doing it’s job properly and the pipe run is only 8 feet. The...
