• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Denbigh Drill Press (not - Meddings pillar drill 3ph to 1ph conversion)

There is a good chance they will be a coarse thread something like 1/4" whitworth but if you cant track any down then 1/4 UNC might be easier to find and should fit as they have the same pitch. Bob

    Chair Steps Project

Looking forward to your wip. I made a couple of chairs a while back and possibly one of my more challenging project largely due to the number of non 90 degree and compound angles Good luck

Festool domino df 500 alignment question

I bought a secondhand df500 a few years back and have been disappointed by its inaccuracies and its been set aside in favour of my good old biscuit joiner. Thanks to this thread I might take a second look at the domino if an idle moment presents itself.

At that price you need to think of it as consumable. If it fails in the year you can try the warranty or if it lasts a year then its fair value. Personally id go for a uk vendor via ebay to get better protection or a used known brand one

You wont regret variable speed. Set the inverter from 10hz to 100 hz and fit the belt mid range position. This will do all but the toughest of jobs. If you need say a 3” trepanning tool then drop to the slowest belt keeping the inverter as high freq as practical. Remember vector mode rules!

You need to check the programming manual but most I have seen there is a way to programme lower output powers below the maximum. Another vitally important think to check if the inverter offers "vector mode " or "sensorless vector control" these allow maximum torque over a wider range of speeds...

Provided the motor is dual voltage then dont rule out a vfd which at that power level can be quite small and readily attached to the drill. Assuming the machine is in fair condition it will be streets ahead of any chinesium available and meddings are still going so there is even a chance of...

SOLVED: More than averagely complex iphone question.

Seem the solution is to write a long complex question then have a bright idea to try logging out from the app. In a deep menu is a logout button and now I can login with my successful ID Eureka!

    Interesting house for sale

Its fairly prosperous in the summer months with lots of Butlins punters in the town but pretty dead in the off season. Taunton is a much more lively place to get “stuff”

Apple Mac survival kit - but some points relevant to PC's maybe

Possibly similar to VEEAM, I use AOMEI backupper. the free version does backups on demand as well as disc imaging. The paid for version will perform scheduled backups and auto deletion of older redundant backups is you wish. It runs 8 backup jobs of key files both personal and business. Like...
