• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    V & A coffee table Finished!

Great start Andy! Looks very good. I totally agree with Roberto - a wee bit of relief carving is definitely the way to go matey! 8-) :D In fact, with the size of your legs, you could quite comfortably do the work with a block plane, maybe a spokeshave and then some paring work with...

I have an idea for a coffee table.

Hey Andy, I had one of those light bulb moments last night and thought I’d share a possible idea you might or might not like. I have grown to really like the ‘Resin River Tabletops’ which are becoming more desirable. They are certainly very attractive with many vibrant colours available for...

    Project Merlin

:text-bravo: I found a small figure of an old chap with a beard and smoking a pipe - looking like my future self. He just needs a jug of ale. I might make him a fiddle and sit him on the roof. :eusa-violin: :D

Haha thanks Bill. 8-) As Winston Churchill once said, "We will never.... ever.... hang up our projects." :eusa-naughty: As you mentioned "I shall carry on" - good chap. My everyday drinking vessel is a great inspiration. :obscene-drinkingcheers: :text-bravo:

    Project Merlin

Hello Chaps, 8-) An update on progress. The front and rear frames have had their dry assembly trial run and all is good for glue assembly. Please note; the joints will look much neater after glue assembly and cleaned up to a 400g finish. Here are all 5 frames pretty much marked up...

    Project Merlin

Hello Folks, I am now ready to start making this beautifully exciting and splendid model. 8-) I've been undecided about various elements of the build and after much dithering, I have made some very important decisions. I wasn't sure whether to make the main frames using a hardwood or...

    Project Merlin

Hello Folks - hope everyone is well. 8-) This is going to be a time consuming and interesting woodworking project, which I have recently resurrected from years ago and started afresh. Twenty years ago, I was working from home on the drawing board full-time, designing/preparing Planning &...

    Teak & Pine Sideboard... (FINISHED)

Thanks Rod. 8-) Yes - so far, so good. We all have the long winter to get through now. :| I hope all is okay with you and your stuff is still behaving. I had a severe Crohn's flare through the summer with several hospital admissions and visits. The tests/examinations are ongoing with...

    Your favourite listenings......

:D Now that would be something, and probably in the region of half a million squid. The Neoplan is a wonderful coach too. I drove one on tour down to the West Country early this year before the first lockdown. Not as posh as the camper version, but a very comfortable touring coach.

    Your favourite listenings......

A classic epic from the world of heavy rock. The fabulous Iron Maiden. YbAhn7iKLPc An element I miss about these graceful machines is... ...the awesome sound system. Driving empty on an open motorway in the early hours with the sound system set just right, is pretty darn good. 8-)

    Teak & Pine Sideboard... (FINISHED)

Hello Chaps, I hope all is well and you’re keeping safe. It’s been a while since my last update on this home project. I didn’t work on it for quite a while, but it brings great pleasure to say it is now finished and looking rather ‘ansome in our dining room, or formerly known as the Tap Room...

I've found a few old photos......

1993/4 - Here's another, but I’m sure I’ve shared this old project on here before. This Walnut Display Cabinet was for my grandmother and it was my first attempt of fine cabinetry with carving and veneer work included in the project. I still didn’t have a workshop, but I did have a large...

I've found a few old photos......

Hello Chaps. As I’m still not fit enough to continue with my sideboard project at the moment, I have been looking through some unpacked boxes since our move at the beginning of the year and I’ve stumbled across some old photos of previous projects, one of which dates back to 1983 when I was an...

    A Quirky Refurb Project (FINISHED)

Hello Chaps, 8-) Well, I was discharged from hospital again yesterday after the closing stages of another ulcerative colitis flare-up. This time, an elongated intersphincteric abscess had formed and needed draining. The pain was severe and my fever was exceeding 40 degrees. I was on cannula...

    Lockdown furniture.

You could always improvise and make yourself a new hat. A bit like this innovative lady who made herself a protective face covering. :eusa-clap: Mind you, her eyes are still exposed and on closer inspection, I think it has as much chance of protection as a ship has through a field of...

    The Mad Hatters Tea Party

Here are a couple of hats I really like... This one falls into the 'Steampunk' category - I like it. Not too over-the-top. 8-) I do like this one. 8-) I wouldn't wear this crushed jobby. Or how about the Jewish Orthodox Fed. :P :obscene-drinkingcheers:
