• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Affinity Water - meter now activated conundrum

If anyone was interested - I wasn’t at home when the gent from Affinity arrived, my wife allowed access to the house. He was there for less than five minutes and these were his findings. I’ll await communication now re: sorting future payment and refund for payments made. Thanks for the...

Affinity Water - meter now activated conundrum

Low and behold, a few days after my direct debit payment should have been paid, I received a call from Affinity acknowledging my email, and wanting to book an appointment with an engineer/technician. Young lady was awfully apologetic and proceeded to tell me that any account irregularities and...

Thanks for all the input everyone. I received a response to my initial communication with Affinity Water before making my post above. I’ve subsequently responded to this with the useful info and tone provided by everyone. Shall see what happens. Fully expecting they be in comms as soon as...

Wowsers, Many thanks for the swift succinct response spb! Your reply has certainly given me some confidence on how to approach this situation while letting them do all the work. I’ll have a proper digest tomorrow of the Guaranteed Standards Scheme before I communicate any further with Affinity...

Affinity Water - meter now activated conundrum

This is a photo of my neighbours inspection pit, nicely sunken. And the leakage within. I’ve written to Affinity via their online form saying I think there is an issue with my meter but have not received a response in the time they suggested they would respond. I haven’t shared any of...

Affinity Water - meter now activated conundrum

Evening brains trust, this might be a long read! I’m hoping to get a little bit of constructive feedback to this one. I’m in the high 90%’s that I’ve figured out what’s happening, but not entirely sure how to approach Affinity Water with my findings. I live in North Surrey, Egham and we had a...

    Advice on finishing old chairs

I think you had me at "Mikes Magic Mix"! 😂 I've had a good read through and will give this a whirl. I hope I didn't come across as lazy and couldn't be bothered to do research. I did, but it was a minefield of contradicting info... I trust you gents and will put a completed photo up when done...

    Advice on finishing old chairs

Good afternoon all, I'm refurbishing two old sentimental chairs for someone, they were his Grandfathers and he is in his 70's so they're over 100 years +. Having limited experience with finishes and before I purchase a load of different options and go for trial and error approach, I'd really...

Hollow chisel morticer - sharpening chisels

Evening gents - I’ve just acquired a Sedgwick hollow chisel morticer for a price I couldn’t refuse. Need it for a bit of batch work coming up, I’ve never used one before. I’ve given it’s a good cleaning and lubrication of moving parts. I won’t be redoing a paint job on this one quite yet ;)...

    Rubberised spray paint

Good evening chaps - I’m just about to do an old Multico planer rebuild and just ordering all the bits. It looks like the table adjustment handles (look like cast aluminium) were dip coated in a plastic, which has unfortunately succumbed to time. My question is - Has anyone ever used...

    Table saw arbour nut unscrewed

Happy Easter all! Bit of a weird one I’ve never encountered before and could have potentially been very dangerous. I was wondering if anyone could shed any light and advise me on what has happened and how to ensure it doesn’t happen again. I’ve a single phased table saw - motor plate attached...

    Hello

Howdy all, I’ve also come from the “place that shall not be named” I’m glad I’ve found a good few familiar names of people that have helped me previously. Now remind me again, which decent table saw should I buy? My budget is £50.. Best Sam.
