• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Have a look at this:

A bloke builds a full size telephone box out of wood to store some tools in it. His skill set is comprehensive to say the least.

Maybe he's still young Sam.

I wanna know how he manages to rip those pallets apart so easily. Ever time I've tried I come up against ring shanked nails that either refuse to budge or the leave the timber unusable when they do eventually come out.

Hear! Hear! Andy!!
The few times that I have eshewed common sense (or given into latent masochism?), those bl**dy things have popped my shoulder, flung teeth out of the saw blade, splintered the wood, curled inward on themselves like demented worms....PAH!! Sod pallets!!

Thanks, I really enjoyed that. I'd normally steer clear of something that looks like a YouTube gimmick project, but that was at another level altogether. I loved the simple, practical construction, which then stepped up a gear or two when he got onto the roof! A very talented man indeed.

I'm glad that you mentioned the roof! It rendered me more or less speechless but then I thought that I better hadn't show my lack of skill by mentioning it. He must have spent an awful lot of time at the drawing board before he kicked off.

I was very impressed by the rock solid construction of the base/plinth.

He showed that at the beginning. He didn't try to pull the nails out. Instead, he smashed the corner blocks with a hammer so they split into bits, releasing the nails easily.

The guys stuff is amazing - I watched the phone box earlier today - when he started doing the roof I was like "he's not going to...... yup he did".

I don't think he's got anywhere near enough drawers in his shop though.

Ahhhh...so he is using pallets where the corner blocks are that dreadful compressed sawdust and resin sh1t. As you say, makes Life a lot easier. For some reason, they are as rare as rocking horse poo up here. The four pallets I've had to doctor up (for odd shaped loads) have all been evil knotty pine corners. And those ring nails? All Hades brand.

I shall watch more of his vids Mike.
I also like Corner Gas.
I found Corner Gas by accident and watched every episode. Another great Canadian show, at least for me, that I found at about the same time is "Puppets Who Kill". Both shows are available on YouTube.

Indeed but there is also a shot of him pulling straight nails out with a claw hammer. Like Sam I have never seen such things.
