• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

And off to pastures new
The staircase where we are moving to is furniture-challenged. I'm actually thinking about taking a window out on the first floor. But before that rather drastic action, thought I'd experiment with mocking up a full-size replica in Kingspan (other products are available). Don't really want to make it solid but am thinking that glueing the flakey edges after cutting might be tricky. Tape over the joints perhaps ?

Any ideas welcome.

Kingspan/Celotx glues very poorly in my experience, Roger. Others may chime in and repudiate that; it would be good to hear their experiences.
What about a 'stick frame' in roofing laths or similar? Emulating the outline?

Reminds me of Douglas Adams, Holistic detective agency, recreated the stairs with a stuck sofa on the computer, and proved there was a portal on the staircase.
Fixing the sheets of insulation together, I would screw through it into short lengths of timber spanning the joints. To be honest though Roger wouldn’t it just be as easy to actually try and get the stuff up the stairs?

Edit, or reproduce the offending piece of furniture in Kingspan?

Dirk Gently! Bl00dy great books!

I have just made a coolbox from Kingspan. I found it difficult to get a good clean-cut edge suitable to glue so rather than glue it together I opted for tape. I used a mix of different tapes I had on hand: parcel tape, gaffer tape, aluminium duct tape. I agree with @Weekend_Woodworker that the aluminium tape is the best option.
