• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

No making up your own jokes.
A gentleman in the Netherlands is under the misapprehension that I am an expert on traditional tools and techniques. He has sent me some pictures of a tool he has bought for €1 and wonders what it is. Apparently it is bookmatched boxwood, so someone has gone to some trouble and expense. AndyT, toolsntat?
Anybody else?
The hinged arm comes up to about 45 degrees

Is he sure it's a tool Steve? I haven't seen anything like it but it looks as if it could be a stand for maybe a book or whatever if the hinged part was rotated so the holed lengths would be upwards . Maybe something missing that would locate across the other holes.

As Lons said it might be a book rest if a suitable rail to stop it folding is put into the holes but also with just a couple of pegs it would act as a small artist's easel?
Nice hinge in wood?
Cheers, Andy

The sender was from the Netherlands? Then surely it must be something to do with bicycles or cheese...

Definitely a stand of some kind with some bits missing I’d say. The hinged part makes up a third leg with either the longer or shorter legs, and there should be some kind of brace between the holes to stop those splaying apart.

For what though…

I'm late to the party, but I agree that it's not a tool and may well be incomplete. And yes, possibly a stand or rest of some sort, with a couple of pegs in your choice of holes.

It would be nice to see it with the short, round ended legs down, the hinged leg out behind, and a pair of pegs in the long arms, holding up a picture. Or possibly a price ticket card in an old fashioned shop window. The angle might make more sense that way up.
