Thought it was about time I poked my head above the parapet.

Postby CHJ » 07 May 2021, 22:36

Been lurking in the background as a visitor for some time, finally took the plunge to ask for admittance to the hallowed grounds, if for no other reason than to more easily keep in touch with ‘Names’ from the past.
Wood mangling in the last 12 months or so has been in the main restricted to property repair and replace regime due to torn shoulder muscle taking a long time to repair (anno dominie rules) rather than turning shed time, long lead times in building supplies of new doors etc. although frustrating, in retrospect proved beneficial and not an unmitigated disaster as rehab physio progress has blended in with personal ability to deal with property and plot clean-up that as usual seems never ending once started, having been on the ‘to do‘ list for too many years.
At least the change in health and the parallel enforced lockdown stint provided the incentive to reappraise life’s priorities.
Hopefully productive turning shed time will materialise in the near future now the spring garden and veg. plot tasks are completed, I hope so as the wood store is still in serious need of pruning.
Whether anything will materialise decent enough to share only time will tell.

A sincere welcome from me, too, Chas. I am glad to see you here. Can I also say that I really respected your principled decision at the time of the take-over of UKW. Sorry to hear of the aches and pains, though. They can be a real trial.

Hello from me too Chas.

Hello from me as well Chas, I hope you continue to recover quickly and get back to turning some of your stunning pieces.
I've spent very little time at the lathe as well but I don't have an excuse, it's just laziness.
I have a degree in faffing about (It must be true, my wife says so)

Chas! There you are! Someone mentioned you were around but lamented you had yet to crave admittance here. Sorry to hear about the shoulder, but sounds like you'll be returning to the lathe with fresh enthusiasm. Looking forward to seeing what you create.

Don't you think it's quite a bit busier now Trevanion? And with threads that are more relevant to making things?

I like that there is no falling out.

Oh, it's definitely busier, just not as busy as the monster we're all familiar with, which is probably a good thing ;)
