Cheers fellas!
AndyT: what's in progress/in planning for you at the moment?
First up is a damned good tidy up of the workshop
. As a major part of that, I need to box up a mass of old handtools and get them to one of those overseas aid charities. Usually acquired as part of mult-buys from the well-known auction site - you know the kind of thing... buy 4 chisels to get the one you want - they've been cluttering up the workshop for years.
Then I have two sizeable projects, which are urgent because I have the wood for both and it's taking up a lot of space. First is a pile of red cedar destined to become an Adirondack chair.
Second, a money-pit of sapele, bought last year to repair a garden bench. Inevitably, it turned out that to repair the bench would mean destroying it. It's nearly 30 years old and the legs, arms and seat slats are badly rotted but whoever made it apparently didn't consider that one day it might need to be disassembled. I decided to bite the bullet and make a replacement bench... and then got overwhelmed by the enormity of it.
I got into this lark to make beautiful little boxes; in 20-odd years I've managed to make two. I need to work on my self-discipline
