Unrelated to my repair thread. This very hot and extremely dry summer is taking it's toll and it may be worth checking any end grain cutting boards you have and taking action if splits are appearing.
I just noticed today that my mobile butcher's block has a lot of small cracks opened up between the blocks. Its solid maple and 7" thick. It's antique and survived this long so it will be OK. Currently draped in wet tea towels. It's got 6 clamping bolts and I might nip them up when some board oil and water has soaked in a bit.
