Sharpening Plane Iron

I wasn’t looking for this but it popped up on my YT home page. It’s answers a query I’ve had for a long while.

3.8 min is too long for someone who can't be bothered by Rob Cosman

Rob Cosman's method is very quick, easy and uses a minimum of kit. I like that he doesn't get into the tedious sharpening debate, just does his thing and proves that it works.
Don't like: wood, engines, electrickery, decorating, tiling, laying stone, plumbing, gardening or any kind of DIY. Not wild about spiders either.

The few I have watched seem to be primarily about flogging stuff from his overpriced online shop.
So I also would not have the patience.

He shows good technique, but the technique can be used on any stones.

As he's working through the sharpening process in a hurry, though, anyone with experience is going to expect that if he is using a plane that did a substantial amount of work, he won't actually finish the sharpening process (you still have to remove any damage that's occurred beyond wear), and

....predictably, he splits the shaving. It physically takes about a minute to do the sharpening process and remove enough steel to ensure that you're getting out nicks that are a thousandth or so deep.
