A couple of simple metal tools.

These have been on my list for a while. A small hammer from scrap, steel head and aloy bar handle it has a bit of weight but a nice balance, I don't know where the shape came from it just kind of eveolved but I've likely seen it somewhere.

My little lathe has a small 3/16" die holder but most of my dies are larger 1" and 25mm, and I can buy one from them but baulked at the £43 + VAT + postage so a bit of brass bar and suitable tube, a bit of turning to fit then soldering, drilling, tapping and it works. It has to slide on the tailstock spindle which is 1/2" so bored out to that and I can also use it in a chuck on the wood drill by utilising a 1/2" transfer punch.

Functional not fancy and at no cost. :)

My sort of tool, to a tee.

That hammer looks like you're going to be testing the wheels on a train.

it's a tool, it's function first, form second.

very nice. I have issues with metal shafted little tappers, but that's my issue. :D it looks rather like a tack hammer used by carpet fitters, or a little version of a wheel tapper as Mike says.

:) I had to google wheel tap hammer.
I have to confess that when I said the shape evolved I meant the larger end is shaped like that because I had a catch which I needed to turn out. Still I quite like it, not that I need any more hammers, I daren't count!
