Pebble bowl

Postby Dalboy » 06 Jan 2022, 17:13

This felt so good the first proper turning for 9 Months (Garden renovations and a new larger Workshop build) spent the afternoon sorting out some metal and then turning this bowl which I called the "Pebble bowl" just because of the shape I just felt the rounded shape went well with the spaltered beech 8" X 2 1/4" finished with sander sealer and woodwax22.

Amazing the effects a bit of rot can have on wood.

I like thick, chunky sided bowls.

"Reminds me of a blood cell shape."

Bi-concave disc. Highest surface area possible for the volume of a red blood cell. Equals: highest possible area for gas exchange using an erythrocyte. Equals: good design for oxygen in, carbon dioxide out .

+N.B. I know not all carbon dioxide is carried by blood cells.
