Owl On A Rope
This is from the same book as the solitaire puzzles.
First scan in the page to a JPG, then do some re-sizing.
The size I thought best was 130mm X 80mm and some 20mm Pine (I have I mentioned before how crap SA pine is?)
The face was glued onto the Pine as I needed accurate marks for the eyes and beak and the rope.
The face was an easy cut on the scrollsaw. The beak was a 3D cut and some sanding.
The holes for the eyes are drilled out.
Small hole for the black eyes was a 8mm bit and 2 small pieces of dowel coloured black with a permanent marker glued in.
The eye whites are 18mm holes painted white with acrylic paint.
The beak was also coloured black with a permanent marker and glued on.
Lastly the 2 holes for the rope drilled, 10mm
The small block where the rope gets glued into is a piece of scrap Pine, hole drilled right through end to end - the rope then force-glued into the hole.
Finishing
Just sprayed on some sanding sealer, couple of coats with a 1000 grit rub down between coats.
I will add a new post with my spray-station
Comment
An easy project anyone can make. A fun game for kids from age 10 and up.
Does not look too shabby and I already have an order for Xmas just based on the pics. Not sure how I will do the pricing on this item.
Thank you for reading.
