Yep, and he has confirmed that the only issue with the machine is the tensioner. Everything else works OK.

I hadn't thought of that Dave but not unsurmountable with a little lateral thinking, the broken rod might well be repairable anyway, it's unlikely to have snapped and I'd guess the treads are stripped on the top end of the rod or in the clamp.

left hand die is easy enough to get hold of. :) it's the left handed drill bit to drill out for tapping that I always had problems with (I've now got one for m4 through to m8 but can't do imperial).

Mike, can you not inspect the machine?

The transaction will still be processed through e-bay and not violate their terms and conditions.

I see still no bids on it 8-)

I could do, but I've other things to do. If I win it, it will be so cheap that I don't mind if something else is wrong with it. I'll just fix it up and use it, or, if it really is a pup, just sell it on again.

Bargain!
A mixture of collect only and a fault puts most buyers off these days. Very few can be bothered to mend things sadly.
Well done Mike

Yep, that's it I think.

Now, if I happened to be making a small bench for a lathe, which of course I'm not, it wouldn't be impossible to make it a tad bigger to hold this thing too. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Maybe the thing to do would be to pass the scroll saw onto your friend so the two machines could then share a bench

Just an aside for those who scroll a lot.... Do you do your scrolling standing up or sitting down?

Neither. I find it best to lie down. :D :D

Standing, i find sitting doesnt give me enoigh body movement for control.

I do like to get me eyes quite close the table hence the back ache when the saw is on the bench. A very high bench or sitting down would probably be more comfortable.

Sitting for me but I have mine mounted on a ply base and just clamp to the bench, if I have a lot to do I shove a packer under the back and incline the saw towards me which I find more comfortable.
If the bellows don't work a small aquarium pump is very effective, I don't on this one but did on the first cheapie I had.

It won't be long before you'll need to upgrade your electrics to handle all these machines Mike. ;)

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8-) 8-) 8-)

Welcome to the other side of woodworking.

You stand and saw. Sitting does not give you flexible movement.

Whether you cut from left to right is a lot dependant on the olden days - do you hang left or right

I scroll sitting down and with the saw tilted forward with a piece of 4 x 2 under the back of the saw.
