Is it too hot to use microcrystalline wax

Postby Andyp » 13 Aug 2022, 19:59

Hovering around 27°c in the workshop. My tub of wax is very soft. Applied some on to my ebony pen having let the sanding sealer dry first, about 30 mins.
Left the wax for another 30 mins, buffed with a soft cloth which left it nice and shiny and left for another 30 mins before I started to assemble the pen. After handling while assembling the shine disappeared and the surface was sticky.
I reapplied the wax and will leave overnight before buffing .

I am being impatient in this heat?
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers
Andy

It is seriously hot. I've been getting distortion in the foundation for new frames I am currently making for my new hive. it was 37C outside today, and 29C indoors in Kent. It's almost 9pm and it is still 28C indoors. No breeze.

Wax will not harden off in these temperatures.
