Took a drive to Chamberlains & Mica.
I also needed some sandpaper, 180 & 150 & 320/340
180 lots of stock
150 two sheets
320/340 zippo
Then looked at all the stains, not much new that I haven't tried before.
They even had Danish Oil in stock.
Took a bottle of Teak gel stain, new one for me.
Asked where are the water based stains?
Complete Blanklook!
Have you got shellac?
Hyde glue?
Having fun seeing the look on their faces.
I have a 'test' area' on the cross piece under the top. Not visible unless you turn the table upside down.
Marked off sections and a piece of paper taped down to log what is used.
Nova Teak - spirit - dab on wood
Nova Wallnut - spirit - db on wood
The Teak is better shade of the two.
Will need to do more experimenting.
I do have a problem with one of the cross pieces on the legs.
It is sturdy, in good condition.
Problem? It is Oak!!!!
Rest of table is Kiaat/Imbuia
Will need to seriously think of what I will do with the Oak.
{Edit}
I will search my archive on finishing and also a Duck-Duck
Will not rush into this one ...............
