Glossy paint

Help with choosing the right coloured milkpaint to slather all over your new project.

Glossy paint

Postby Lurker » 23 Sep 2021, 15:47

I want to make some wooden items for kids Christmas presents.

I need bright glossy colours.
Does acrylic paint work and is it moderately durable.
Assume that I need primer/ sealer and also undercoat .

You MUST make sure it is child friendly and not poisonous to the little blighters, because kids will be kids
Even some acrylics are not safe.

Cheers Bob,

Hopefully they are beyond the chew anything stage.
Also I can’t see how cured acrylic can be harmful.

Remember my ziggidy man?

Every one I have ever made has used Humbrol and Plasti-Kote enamel paint. I can’t say if they are child safe but AFAIK there have been no fatalities yet. Mine are not high gloss but matt. I then add a coat or two of gloss acrylic varnish.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers
