It’s getting closer

As I suspected, I only have the one jab registered. Would I take the risk of trying to travel abroad with a bit of paper saying "He's had another one. Honest, Guv. We can't tell you what it is but he's definitely had one. Promise."

Don't think so.

Seriously impressed with the NHS IT systems. I had some x-rays taken of my crumbling hands in 2016 down in Worcester. I want to see a consultant up here to see how much more wear and tear as gone on and devise a plan for the future. Last time when I needed the x-rays I had to pay for a CD copy. Took a couple of weeks.

This time ? :eusa-dance:

Filled in a form this morning, provided photo ID proof. And now I have two 140MB ZIP folders on my Mac of those 2016 x-rays.

I'm impressed :eusa-clap:

Because I'm special. :)

I can only assume that as they reach the younger members of the community they realise that a sticker is quite often the only reason they do anything, including purchasing expensive stuff like CNC, cars, bikes, perfume, shoes and other stickers.

I had to settle for stickers because they had no lollipops, though for the second jab the nurse wrote, brave little soldier on it.

My jabs and my blood donation a couple of weeks ago were a doddle.

Today I had to give a routine statin blood test. First time she couldn't get any, then second attempt it was like a scaffold pole going in my arm! :x

well that was a fun night.
was fine till around 9pm, then my eyes started to hurt. went to bed and at 3am everything hurt and my throat was as dry as a pair of sandals in the dessert. I crawled out of bed and felt like I'd gone 3 rounds in the ring with a bloke who targeted kidneys. I was also freezing. 2 paracetamol and back to bed to not sleep and end up with a high fever.
to be honest I'd say it was petty close to what COVID felt like on the first few days. this morning I'm marginally better, that thing at the back of my throat has swollen up, everything aches and I've got the shivers.

Moderna.

still rather have the vaccination.

No1 son (and partner) had a mild dose of the pestilence just before Christmas and recovered without any apparent issues. However, in the last few days he’s developed DVT is his left leg which I assume is connected to C19. He went to A&E at St.Thomas’s, had a scan and chat to the medics who put him onto anti-coagulant meds. Thus far he’s in no pain and getting better by the day although housebound. He’s just booked for his first jab next week and I suspect it won’t be AZ. No1 daughter has just been jabbed in Carlisle with Pfeizer - Rob

Mmmm....todays newspaper reports are redefining 'highly'. Recent results from PHE say that two doses of Pfizer or AZ are 'highly' effective against the Indian variant providing two doses have been given.

Pfizer is 88%. Yup, highly effective. It was 93% effective against the Kent variant.

AZ ? 60%. Now, I don't know about you but I don't think 60% is 'highly' effective. It was only 66% effective against the Kent variant.

OK...60 or 66% is better than catching Covid but I know which vaccine I'd rather have had. :(

Will this result in lockdown rules based on you jab? I dowt it but its an interesting thought.

Rijs corrected to this. Sorry old bean. Fat fingers, small phone and an inability to spot what others would consider an obvious typo.

There's some suggestion that the difference may be as much to do with how many AZ second jabs have been administered (owing to the longer delay between jabs), and also that AZ takes a little longer to reach full effectiveness. I dunno, maybe a load of spherical objects, but as I can't change what jab I had, I'll take it!

No. Two doses was the criteria tested regardless of any delays

Alf wrote:, and also that AZ takes a little longer to reach full effectiveness. ....

They took all of that into account. AZ = 60% ....nearly 50:50 chance. I agree better than getting Covid but TBH let's be frank. Pfizer is the Gold Standard.

Did you find out which jabs you had in the end?
