Every day so far since some naughty person started this thread, I have done this in 3. Except today where I was ejected after 6 despite having three greens at 3.

Strangely addictive innit?

I think some of the fun comes from assuming that the choice of word is not random. By adopting the one-puzzle-a-day strategy, Josh Wardle stays in control of what we all see each time. So he can test us with double letters, US spellings, less common consonant groupings... and whatever else he has up his sleeve.

I'm finding one of my guessing strategies is becoming "What answer would annoy me the most?"

Time I dropped him a note to see if he can add one or two of those franglais words that have crept into the OED.

What word do folks start with to give them the best chance? I’ve used ABOUT and ARIEL but wondering about others. Actually OTHER isn’t a bad one.

that would reveal my flawless strategy that hasn't failed me yet....... oh wait, I hear the sound of bullpoop, it's coming from my stereo, I should turn the audio down.

I use LATER then POUND which uses all vowels bar the 'i' and gives you 10 unique letters. Doesn't always help but often lands you at least 2 either in the right place or correct but wrong place. Not using the 'i' still helps because if the others aren't there that that almost has to be, and even if none of the other consonants aren't there then it helps because you narrow down what's left.

That's my technique anyway.

Miaou or Beaus. My first one originally was Mauve but v is a waste.

:eusa-think: Wait, maybe that's why you are all better than me. :eusa-think:

I rate this game though ;)

The last few times I've started with THOSE and DRAIN to get a good spread of letters, but earlier goes (including the most successful ones!) were picked more randomly.
