Soft-close toilet seats

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

That's what angle grinders are for, Steve ;)

Well I have written to the manufacturer (or at lest the seller), we'll see what they say.

Good grief, what a palaver.

THEM.Very sorry, we cannot refund, you've had it more than 180 days. How about we give you £9 as compensation?
ME. No, that means I still have a toilet seat that doesn't work.
T. Very sorry, how about we give you £12 as compensation?
M. No. You have to offer a 12-month warranty under UK Consumer Law. Full refund please.
T. Sorry, cannot refund.

So I contacted Amazon and spoke to "Jennifer", who was very sweet but incomprehensible, a combination of her mother tongue not being English (although her English is streets ahead of my Cantonese) and the VoIP telephone system. I really couldn't understand what she was saying. Then:

T. Very sorry, we cannot refund, you've had it more than 180 days. How about we give you £22 as compensation?
M. NO! You have to offer a 12-month warranty under UK Consumer Law. Full refund please.
T. Very sorry, we cannot refund, you've had it more than 180 days. How about we give you £22 as compensation?
M. What part of UK Consumer Law do you not understand? 12-month Warranty. Full refund please. I can still leave a review...
T. Very sorry for the inconvenience, we have issued a full refund.

Why did it have to be so difficult? This has been a week of toing and froing.

The company is called WOLTU GmbH, which gives the impression it is German, but there is no way that this is German-standard customer service.

Steve, given your slightly eclectic taste in loo seats, maybe something like this

https://www.amazon.co.uk/puregadgets-bl ... B001E3QP9M

might appeal for when you come to spend your refund?

Well, as I was invited to leave a review...

I've now had a message from the seller offering me a discount on my next purchase (what next purchase would that be, I wonder?) and a desire for me to change my review.

Not a cat in hell's chance. People have a right to know what sort of outfit they will be dealing with.

These vendors really annoy me! They think we customers are such tarts as to change a review for a few quid.
I had the same from ebay vendors and ebay themselves are not interested either.
