Buzzed!

Hang up your Chisels and Plane blades and take a load off with a recently turned goblet of your favourite poison, in the lounge of our Gentlemen's (and ladies) Club.

Buzzed!

Postby Woodbloke » 25 May 2022, 16:25

Just been buzzed about 15 seconds ago by three American jets with twin tails and swept back wings. Going at a hell of a lick towards Boscombe Down at about 400' - Rob

You lucky thing! Probably F35Bs as the USA has parked quite a few over here just lately for some inexplicable reason.

Might even have been the older (but much better in many ways) F22 Raptor. Super impressive planes far to superior to anything else anywhere in Europe, including Russia apparently. They are a rare sighting outside of the US.

I legged it outside as the second one went over and was just in time to see the third one disappearing very rapidly into the distance. The wings were swept back and I could definitely make out the twin tails. SWIMBO was cycling home at the same time when they passed directly over her! - Rob

Awesome - are you sure they were American Rob? The RAF fly F35’s out of Marham and they are also on the carriers which according to the news are hanging around the South West at the moment.

We’re seeing the Typhoons occasionally now as they’ve moved some to RAF Leeming from Lossiemouth presumably to save a bit of fuel when they fly out to meet the Russkis probing the air defences.

Dunno if they were 'murrican or RAF, I assumed they were 'murrican. They were shifting so fast all I really saw were the twin tails before they became a dot it the far distance - Rob

Suspect they were more likely to be F35's given the current exercises going on in the background.

Being an older school air maintenance guy with the badge, I'd back the F15 Eagle in general use Adriane.

F15 eagle was a cool plane I agree. Designed in 1969. Raptor would eat it alive nowadays but superb bit of kit in its day by all accounts.

Anyway, we have our tickets booked to see Top Gun II Maverick tonight. Looking forward to that.

Good man Mark!

I am in a race to beat my son to see it. He has no idea we are going tonight. Hopefully, for the first time ever I will have seen a film before him. 8-)

Yep saw it last night, really good. Could so easily have been terrible if they went too hard on the nostalgia and just made a rehash of the original but it was really good. :D
