Memory trick

Postby Windows » 15 Aug 2022, 09:00

You may already have heard of the technique for remembering a list of items where you associate each item with a location on a journey through a real space that you visualise. But maybe you haven’t tried that technique. It works. My wife and I were able to remember a list of 30 random words with relatively little effort using this technique. If you need or want to remember sequences, this might be something to try for yourself.

How do I use it to remember what I came into the room for?

Easy. Just remember the top 30 items you normally go into rooms for, then work your way through the list until you recognise what you forgot.

Fairy 'snuff, but how do you account for the gremlins? I have one regularly perched on my shoulder and I know that other members have the same afliction

Andy P still hasn't found his chamois leather  - Rob

Easy. Just remember the top 30 tricks you normally use, then work your way through the list until you recognise which trick you forgot.

Wait a minute. Andy lost a chamois leather in 2012 and didn’t think to tell Rob that he got a new one until 10 years had passed?! Unbelievably inconsiderate, but you can’t fault these guys’ memories.

It's been ten years now though Dave and thus far there's been no sign of it; the little bar stewards did a good good job! - Rob
