Morris Chairs. The chair model is an old one. I used it the other day to create a tutorial video on modeling cushions with piping around the edges and tufting or whatever it's called when there are buttons distributed across the surface.

A child-sized digger instead of doing work I should have been doing. Based on plans from a magazine published in 1963. Still some hardware and other details to add.

Another Morris chair. This one was done for a guy who was looking for a cutlist for a project. Still needs the cushions.

Eldest son was about 18 months shuffling around the house.
He found an emersion heater in the kitchen, with its 3 pin plug
Stuck it into the wall socket in the dining room, decided it was getting too hot and pushed off.
A while later the power tripped. Wife (6 months pregnant) went to investigate.
Fortunately it was a loose woollen rug and just burnt a hole, could have been serious.

I purchased a whole lot of kid-proof protectors :D

Smart Phil.

I have vague memories of it but when I was about 2 years old my father made a box with a bunch of switches and lights on it so I would play with that instead of his audio equipment. I think that also helped keep me away from the AC receptacles, too.

Here's some woodworking. A bench based on the "Amana Church Bench" from Amana, Iowa. My model is based on dimensions provided in an article in Fine Woodworking Magazine #298.

Image

The original benches went from Ebenezer, New York to Amana, Iowa when the entire church community relocated there in 1846. The backs are designed to be removed when the benches are not in use. Kind of Shaker-esque in design.

Well that looks like the original flat pack, I wonder if IKEA took their ideas from it?

Could be. It does seem like an interesting design if you want lightweight and easily knocked down.

Here's that bench in its normal knocked-down configuration. The cleats on the seat bottom are glued in and the legs are wedged so basically permanently installed.

So a steam engine or water wheel to drive the line shaft?

Steam engine I guess. I already have several modeled. I think I have a waterwheel somewhere, too. I still need to model James Watt's balls for the steam engine though.
