“A glass shall be raised to the person who comes up with the most primitive method at the end!”

Can I nominate Jacob with his bean can filled with lead weights that’s dangling off a string on a lever for holding down dovetailing work? :eusa-think:

Now Jacob Butler taking part in a zoom chat and the ensuing arguments might be worth a watch for the sport alone as well as seeing how the chair handles it.

Worked surprisingly well when he demonstrated it to me though I think he used a kilo weight if memory serves.
Not that primitive really, I’ve nailed bits of wood to the bench before to hold them can’t think of much more primitive than that

Yes, you can watch without contributing to the conversation. You’ll need to set-up Zoom on a viewing device of some kind such as your computer or a tablet, I’m not sure how you would go about putting it in the telly as I’ve never done it, but I imagine you can somehow stream it via Bluetooth via your tablet onto a smart TV or using a HDMI cable from the PC to the TV if you’re old school.

Depends how smart your telly is. if it is wifi connected and you have a browser installed and quite possibly a zoom account you might be able to.

Or connect your tv to the laptop with HDMI cable

or "cast" it to some sort of USB stick that you may have which can put anything on PC screen onto TV screen
However none of this sounds like a capability a technophobe would have.

I think they are all released on You Tube anyway shortly after the Zoom meeting? Hence if you are not participating you can just watch it on YT later at your leisure.
Don't like: wood, engines, electrickery, decorating, tiling, laying stone, plumbing, gardening or any kind of DIY. Not wild about spiders either.

Yes, that makes more sense. I think it has auto generated subtitles too which saves me trying to work out what's going on :D

That was a bit more unusual but then again I’ve often wondered about a power feed on the out feed table :eusa-think:

Ok, bit of an update.
I've had a word and, if all goes well, we may be having live subtitles tonight.....

Ah, I'm only teasing  . If I recall he was trying to compare it to Derek Cohen's very precise setup for dovetailing in extraordinarily hard timbers (Jarrah) which was a master-class in jig making, but no where near as good as Jacob's bean can on a string :eusa-naughty:

Nice to see you posting here again though Doug, I thought you had left.

What and you never started a thread where’s Doug gone

Thankfully work has picked up dramatically since last year so I’ve not had as much time on the tinternet Dan.

Ah, well if I hadn’t seen you posting elsewhere and on Instagram then I might’ve become a little concerned

Nice to hear that you’re busy, struggling to get timber, glass, paint, and just about everything else at the moment :x

Must have been a “gripping” zoom session as there has been no discussion about it.
Just off topic replies.

How long roughly does it take them to get it onto You tube? I looked just now and could not see it yet.
I did find some chap spouting about putting his router into it's box and using his table saw as a table again though.
I do feel sorry for these types - they need help back to the real world - please give generously.
