• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Yes Bob all of those were from yours. The rosewood I found hard to finish as it has a lot of pores. Hadn’t thought of drilling off centre before; thanks for the tip. I’m sure you could find a ready outlet for any pens you made Rob as per those secret hinge boxes.

    It is the timber rather than the turner. Always hard to know how a ¾” blank will turn out. The rosewood is crying out for decoration but I did not have time to do my usual knot. The sapwood visible on the yew blank turned away but the grain holds its own.

    So PVA, Resin W would be my choice, in small 125ml bottles is the way to go? I do not recall ever having a problem with its shelf life either.

    Has anyone ever had a glue failure? My output is not prolific but I do have projects going back 30 years or more and I do not recall ever having a failure. Evostick Resin W in 500ml bottles has been my go to for wood joints; current bottle of which must be 10 years old or more. Small 125ml...

    A bit off topic perhaps but perhaps something similar and simpler is available in UK. Over here rather than have individual ceiling fans VMC (mechanically controlled ventilation) fan units are installed in the loft space . One unit extracts from all the wet rooms rooms, kitchen, WCs...
