• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Startrite table saw - table alignment help

Yes,...That bolt has an eccentric shaft and when you rotate it, it will make the trunnion tighter or looser, depending on which way you rotate it.... It will only require VERY small adjustments to take up any potential play. Dont forget to ret-tighten the nut before setting the blade back to 90...

Startrite table saw - table alignment help

That would suggest that the trunnion mounts are likely where your problem lies..... Check to see if there is any discernible play on the three trunnion mounts by removing the yellow angle plate on the front of the saw. Tilt the blade over until you can see a large headed screw with a slot in...

    'To the finder'

About 30 years ago, I was working on a very old house in Suffolk that was undergoing a major refurbishment. Part of the project involved running pipework in the large loft area ( The property was originally 3 x Tied Cottages) The client had informed us to keep an eye out for ancient "graffiti"...

    Festool ts55 blades

The company in the link I put up above, sell blades of different widths to suit both the earlier models with a 2.2mm kerf blade and the later more recent 1.8mm kerf blade.

    Festool ts55 blades

The majority of the blades I use in my Festool tracksaw's are from Festool themselves. I do find them to give a cleaner cut and keep their sharpness longer than other more budget oriented blades. A couple of years ago, I tried a couple of Saxon blades for example......Okayish on ply and MDF, but...

I will never buy another Magnet kitchen

A lot, the majority in fact, of the European manufacturers still use thin hardboard backs in their cabinets. Here in the UK, the majority of manufacturers use thicker backs......I manufacturer all my own cabinets for my customers and the majority of the cabinet doors as well. I tend to use 8mm...

Are all NVR switches the same?

The NVR switch on my 2.2kw bandsaw stopped working correctly a couple of years ago, so I ordered a replacement. When it arrived, I removed the original switch from the bandsaw and noticed there was a small amount of dust visible inside the transparent cover over the coil.....I thought Ive got...

    Tool thefts in England

I had my old Escort van broken into in the early 90's and they stole about £1500 worth of tools.....I called the police and they turned up , but didn't offer me much hope of them catching the b a s t a r d s. The officer told me there had been a spate of tool thefts in the area over the past...

Kity 619 table saw rise and fall repair

The gear mechanism on the 618 is all metal, no plastic! Both the black and orange hand wheels for Tilt and rise & fall are cast alloy. There are Bristol levers to lock both the Tilt and the rise & fall which are also alloy, as opposed to cheaper plastic ones.

Kity 619 table saw rise and fall repair

I've just had a look at a couple of pictures of the 619 and the 618.....It appears the rise & fall and the blade tilt are both on the same mechanism on the 618, but the 619 has a separate adjustment to the lhs of the machine for the blade tilt. I wonder if Kity decided to change the design of...

Kity 619 table saw rise and fall repair

I'm not sure if the rise & fall mechanism on the Kity 619 is similar in design to the 618, but I have a 618 and there is a meshed pair of gears that need regular cleaning and attention to ensure that it works correctly. The gears are really exposed to sawdust and clog up easily. When I first...

Uses 'electrickery' so... Cross line laser unit

One of the very few items I have ever bought in a Black Friday sale, was a blue Bosch cross line laser level. It was 50% off and that was about 9 years ago (£110 reduced to £55)...Its been really useful and I've found I use it more than I had anticipated. Admittedly, it is a Red laser model and...
