• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Fitting a back-to-wall WC with an offset fitting.

I have always avoided them like the plague.....

Fitting a back-to-wall WC with an offset fitting.

Yes, I've had to do this a number of times....I'm assuming you mean a difference in the height of the outlet of the pan, compared with the height of the 100mm waste pipe connection? If so, you can buy offset pan connectors with various degrees of offset & angles. McAlpine offer one of the...

    Blast From The past

I just looked it up.......Apparently, he wrote 5 autobiographical books and after looking at the titles, I realised I've read three of the five.👍

    Smart Phone - done!

Ever since the advent of mobile phones, I've never understood how some people's lives can revolve around them so much? I bought my first in the early/ mid 90's, ( mainly for work purposes...) but even to this day, I very rarely take mine with me if I'm going to a social event with friends or...

    Table saw mitre

@Lurker The width of that slot/ bar will be an Imperial measurement, not Metric. I believe it will be 3/4" wide x 1/4" deep. Perhaps an American aftermarket model may be an option...? That style of cast alloy mitre gauge that you have, was supplied as standard by Startrite with the 125, 145...

Terminology - Two countries, separated by a common language

I think they spell it the same as we do, but the "L" is silent for some strange reason ???

Terminology - Two countries, separated by a common language

One example that has always puzzled me is the American pronunciation of "Solder" ( when using a soldering iron)......I believe they pronounce it "Soder"......What's that all about..?🤔

8mm diamond drill bit recommendations sought

The reason I bought my Japanese set back then,.....The client had purchased her own porcelain wall & floor tiles for her bathroom and paid an arm & leg for them....( porcelain tiles were nowhere near as common back then as they are now).I tried about 10 different masonry bits from various...

8mm diamond drill bit recommendations sought

Even though some of these diamond drill bits state they can be used dry, I always try to use them wet whenever I can, as it keeps the temperature and dust down to a minimum. I have a Japanese set that I bought back in 2000, that came with it's own mandrel with a water feed and the drill bits...

    Right angle drill attachment

Mine came in the Festool TXS Set along with the drill.....I've had it about 5 years now and back then, the complete set with 3 chucks, 2 batteries and a charger was less than £200..... Not cheap @£75 on it's own currently, but the drill itself gets used practically every day as it's my go to...

    Right angle drill attachment

I also have the Festool version for my TXS drill and it's been so useful over the years..... I'm pretty sure it doesn't fit any other make of drill though...! There used to be an aftermarket one that was a shiny alluminium version and it just fitted into the chuck of your drill......nowhere...

    Festool TS55 lock washer problem

If my memory serves me,...Those side panel screws are Torx head, not Allen head.....perhaps that is why the heads had been rounded over...?

Startrite table saw - table alignment help

It's a tie bar that ensures that the blade arbor/mount maintains the correct position relative to how high or low you raise or drop the blade height. It has an Olite bronze bush at each end that pivots on round pins. They are often worn out on heavily used saws but are easy and cheap enough to...

Startrite table saw - table alignment help

Yes,...That bolt has an eccentric shaft and when you rotate it, it will make the trunnion tighter or looser, depending on which way you rotate it.... It will only require VERY small adjustments to take up any potential play. Dont forget to re-tighten the nut before setting the blade back to 90...
