• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Electrical mystery (DC). Can you help?

Could you not pull a new bit of wire through and try again? Sounds like faulty wiring, connection or something?

    Look after yourselves chaps!!

That's so sad. I've often thought of walking away, going AWOL, recently due to relationship breakup and a rubbish divorce settlement (such limited custody rights)

What size chisels do you use the most?

But how many chisels sets do you have?!🤔🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣

    Stool design.

That's pretty much where I want to be. Is it better having legs splayed or straight. My legs are oval so I want them at 33 degrees from straight, which will make drilling the stretcher to fit harder!

    Stool design.

I'm making it from offcuts from the kitchen worktop I've made.

    Stool design.

Yes I'm planning on thicker stretcher across the front legs (foot rest) and a thinner one from the middle of that one to the rear leg.

    Stool design.

I'm building two three legged stools from offcut 1 1/2 timber. So quite stout! Question is to I use through and wedged tenons or blind ones and do I scallop out the seat possibly with a champer on the outside too?

3 Round tabletops - rounding edges

Funny that I remember a boat building book once said 3 for bolts 5 for screws!

Cased frame sliding sashes with hand tools

Would a joiner bitd not have cut the cut on the line through practice rather than chiseling up to it??

    Worrier's Workshop

Keep it simple and make an I beam from 4x2 timber so 8x4" Nice and strong and doesn't need any additional timber. Your wall plate should go the full length tbh.

    Worrier's Workshop

Go for 9x2 or better still 9x3 a common timber size.

New vs Old Machines + Optimum Drill Press

Definitely go for a Naerok pillar drill For a p/t then an 260 Machine if space is tight or a bigger cast iron one if not.

    The Accidental Woodworking Club

Id place a bet that they will come with their own ideas.. My ladies shedders do that. I don't worry about materials or ideas they come full of enthusiasm and energy! Often they send men's shed stuff back to the finishing school! A stool or tote is a good first project. Also an apprentice...
