• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Table saw mitre

Thanks chaps. Tim, I knew that the slot must have been imperial, but my brain works in metric most of the time 😉 The thing in the photo was something that I had made from parts, nothing to do with the startrite. The aluminium bar was a bit I had that was the correct thickness and I cut it...

    Table saw mitre

I have a Startrite 165 and want to make a better mitre guide for it. Problem is with the slot which is just a channel about 5-6mm deep and around 19mm wide, so non of the off the shelf runners are any use. Has anyone got suggestions? Are there other folks here with similar saws? This is my...

I hate the term engineer misused. Germany have the right idea. I guess that I could be wrong and he is chartered

No nothing to do with the silliness this week. I came across a comment on a political column about the place being a centre of hinge manufacturing in the recent past.. Apparently there is a pub called The Hingemakers Arms.

His chain smoking caused an early death 😆 I liked his stuff particularly the wolds paintings.

Terminology - Two countries, separated by a common language

It’s a bit like touch rugby but you only play for 5 minutes at a time. Also you wear a batsman’s helmet and body armour.

Clearly regulations can’t be retrospectively applied, otherwise we would all be permanently rebuilding every dwelling in the country.

Clients late father built this shed early 1970's

I’ve always liked the shape of those roofs, and have often wondered if there is a practical reason for them.
