• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    What I have fixed today

Well... realise I'm stretching it a bit... NOT something I've fixed today - yet - but looking towards future needs? Shopping at Lidl this morning... £1 off with Lidl Plus... so... £4.99... I can never find a sharp needle when needed so I'm thinking these will come in handy *when* I get a wood...

    Damn blood thinners

I had a look for the drug - and side effects... also dosages it comes in. Crossed my mind if a slightly lower dose would not give the nosebleed? Sorry... I've got a bit paranoid recently (not so recently) about dosages for the mess we get prescribed for us - without the proper monitoring over...

    Damn blood thinners

Jeez Bob... I'd be back to my doctor and getting the drug reviewed to check the dosage of the drug itself is suitable for *you*... Take care, please 🙏 🙂

The Bas…..s got me 11 times

Fully understand Bob... With the amount and type of fruit trees it must be a big worry 😟. All I could offer - *if not already doing it?* - is to put up some of those wasp traps you can get for putting in some liquid attractive solution so they (at least some!) enter and drown in at as they...

The Bas…..s got me 11 times

I must admit that I don't see as many of any of them as I used to do in my area... At one time in the past I used to put up those artificial wasp nests so they'd not nest in our garden. I've not done that for the last 5 years...

    Little critters

The invasive Gray/Grey squirrel in the UK is the carrier of a pox virus that the native Red squirrel has no immunity to: https://www.daera-ni.gov.uk/articles/squirrel-pox-and-other-squirrel-diseases My OH likes to see them perch on the bottom and side fence tops... myself hate the dam things...

The Bas…..s got me 11 times

Don't kill any of them be they bee, wasp or our Hornet - Except the Yellow-legged Asian Hornet which - if seen - sightings should be reported so the nest/nests can be found and correct treatments applied. It doesn't have a place in this country and causes great damage to our native insects...

    Wild Flowers

Few years back I had to go to the Royal United Hospital in Bath - driving from Frome to the Park and Ride (free parking/buy a bus ticket) for the bus to the RUH. On the trip, from the P&R, theres a roundabout... usually full of weeds and unkempt. This time someone in the council or highways...

Very educational... and quite a work of art following the processes used to make this door, install hinges, cutting the keyhole and also the glazing of. Thanks for sharing 🙏

Feel sorry for you Ian - and the discomfort caused. I had a hatred for wasps as a kid... as well as Bees back then but now understand them better. As someone told me a few years back "If it wasn't for wasps we wouldn't have paper!"... They have a place in removing other little nasties...

What Birds Have You Seen Today

Definitely a Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) @shafiq - even at the angle of your photos. Shape of the wings and the tail... AI in this case is incorrect. European Buzzards (Buteo buteo) won't *naturally* hover as a kestrel does. It's thought/said that the kestrel, when hovering, is looking for the...

What Birds Have You Seen Today

Well... if talking about birds seen previous to *today*... Red kites... lots over above Radstock... and we get some around Frome (and our house) Common Buzzards - not as many over the last couple of years... possibly being pushed out by the Red Kites... Sparrowhawks (now and again) Kestrels...
